Keyboard Shortcuts and Settings
Outlook-style keyboard shortcuts and settings in the Calendox Unified Calendar — views, work hours, time format, and your default calendar.
The Unified Calendar can be driven almost entirely from the keyboard — single keys switch views, jump to today, and open a new event — and a settings menu tunes work hours, time format, and how events are rendered. The shortcuts follow Outlook's layout, so they'll feel familiar.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| N | New event (opens the editor at the next full hour) |
| T | Jump to today |
| A | Agenda view |
| D | Day view |
| B | Work week view |
| W | Week view |
| M | Month view |
| Y | Year view |
| ← / → | Previous / next day, week, month, or year — matching the current view |
Shortcuts pause while you're typing in a field or while a dialog or popup is open, so pressing N in an event title never misfires.
Navigating dates
- The Today button and the arrow buttons in the toolbar page through time in steps matching the current view.
- The mini month picker in the left rail jumps straight to any date; the rail itself can be collapsed to give the grid more room.
- The refresh button in the toolbar re-fetches events from your providers on demand.
Your last-used view is saved on your account, so the calendar reopens the way you left it.
Calendar settings
The gear button in the toolbar opens the calendar settings:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show confirmation dialog on event drop | Asks before saving a drag-and-drop move |
| Use dot badge | Renders events as neutral chips with a colored dot instead of colored blocks |
| Use 24 hour format | Switches all times between 12-hour and 24-hour display (saved in this browser) |
| Work Hours | Opens the work-hours editor (see below) |
| Default calendar | Which calendar new events go to (see below) |
| Agenda view group by | Groups Agenda view by Date or by Calendar |
How do work hours affect the calendar?
Work Hours defines your working periods per weekday. Outside-hours time is shaded in the Day, Work week, and Week grids so your real availability stands out, and quick compose on a Month or Year day cell defaults its start time to that day's work-hours start (9:00 when the day has none).
Default calendar
Your default calendar is the pre-selected target when you create an event — from quick compose and the full editor alike. Set it in three places, whichever is closest:
- The star action on a calendar row in the My Calendars rail — the current default carries a Default pill.
- Default calendar in the calendar settings menu.
- Settings → App, alongside your account-wide preferences.
Only writable calendars can be the default. Without one, new events target the first writable calendar you have visible.
Week start and timezone
The first day of the week (affecting the week grids and every date picker) and your app timezone are account-wide preferences, set under Settings → App rather than in the calendar itself. Calendar colors have their own dialog — see How are events color-coded?
Troubleshooting
- A shortcut does nothing. Your cursor is in a text field, or a dialog/popup is open — click the calendar grid first.
- Times show in the wrong format. Use 24 hour format is saved per browser — set it again on a new device.
- Days are shaded when they shouldn't be. Check Work Hours — days with no enabled periods are shaded entirely.
