Calendox vs OneCal: Calendar Sync and Pricing Compared

By CalendoxPublished Updated 8 min read

Two calendar windows side by side, a week view and an agenda view, joined by the rows this page compares, from calendars and sync directions to trial and price

Calendox publishes this page and is one of the two products compared. OneCal details come from the public sources linked under Sources; we have not tested OneCal hands-on. How we compare

In short

Calendox and OneCal both sync Google and Microsoft calendars one way or multi-way, with a unified calendar and booking pages. Calendox's list price per user is lower at each tier, with 2, 5 or 25 active syncs, 2 booking pages on Basic and up to 25 calendars to OneCal Premium's 50. It suits people who connect up to 25 calendars and organizations that sync Microsoft 365 tenants with one admin consent per tenant.

  • Calendox's list price per user is lower than OneCal's at each tier, billed monthly or annually, with 2, 5 or 25 active syncs, 2 booking pages on Basic, and 25 calendars at the top tier to OneCal Premium's 50.
  • Each new Calendox sync first copies events up to a year ahead, on Outlook calendars as well as Google. OneCal's documentation gives a rolling window of up to 3 months ahead for Outlook calendars.
  • Calendox Enterprise syncs calendars between Microsoft 365 tenants with one tenant-wide admin consent per tenant, and employees never sign in.
  • Both start with a 14-day trial with no credit card. When the Calendox trial ends, syncs pause and your connections and settings are kept.

Why Calendox

  • A lower list price per user

Each Calendox tier has a lower list price per user than OneCal's matching tier, billed monthly or annually, with 2, 5 or 25 active syncs, 2 booking pages on Basic and up to 25 calendars.

  • Outlook events copied a year ahead

Each new sync copies events from the start of the previous month to a year ahead, on Outlook calendars as well as Google.

  • One admin consent per Microsoft 365 tenant

On an Enterprise account, an admin of each Microsoft 365 tenant grants tenant-wide consent once, employees never sign in, and calendars pair by matching email username and calendar name.

  • Cap bookings per day and per week

Set a maximum number of bookings per day and per week for each booking page, and the remaining slots close once a cap is reached.

  • You want a lower list price per user for up to 25 calendars each, with 2, 5 or 25 active syncs by plan and 2 booking pages on Basic
  • You want each new sync to copy Outlook events up to a year ahead from the start
  • You keep calendars in two or more Microsoft 365 tenants in step and want one admin consent per tenant, with no employee sign-in
  • You want booking pages with daily and weekly caps and approvals that hold the slot
  • You want a 14-day refund window on card subscriptions wherever you live, if you haven't used the service extensively

How the plans line up

Both products price their personal and team plans per user, in US dollars before tax, billed monthly or annually. A Calendox Business team pays per seat, at the same price as the matching plan, and OneCal charges per team member. The tiers pair up by how many calendars each person can connect:

TierCalendoxOneCal
EntryBasic: 2 calendars, 2 active syncs, 2 booking pagesStarter: 2 calendars, unlimited syncs and booking links
MiddleStandard: 5 calendars, 5 active syncs, unlimited booking pages (fair use)Essential: 5 calendars, unlimited syncs and booking links
TopPremium: 25 calendars, 25 active syncs, unlimited booking pages (fair use) without brandingPremium: 50 calendars, unlimited syncs and booking links without branding

The OneCal column comes from OneCal's pricing page. Calendox's list price per user is lower at each tier, while Calendox caps active syncs and Basic booking pages, as the table shows.

Calendox Enterprise is a separate account type for syncing calendars between Microsoft 365 tenants. It's priced per imported secondary-tenant calendar rather than per user, so the pricing table doesn't set it against OneCal's per-user plans.

Questions

Is Calendox cheaper than OneCal?

Yes, on list price per user: Calendox Basic, Standard and Premium each cost less than OneCal Starter, Essential and Premium, billed monthly or annually. The plans don't include the same things. Calendox allows 2, 5 or 25 active syncs and 2 booking pages on Basic, while OneCal lists unlimited sync configurations and booking links on every plan.

The gap is smallest at the entry tier. It's widest when you connect 6 to 25 calendars: OneCal's Essential plan stops at 5 calendars per user, so those calendars need OneCal Premium, and Calendox Premium costs less. OneCal Premium allows up to 50 calendars per user, and Calendox Premium up to 25. Current Calendox prices are on the pricing page.

How far ahead are Outlook events copied?

A new Calendox sync first copies Outlook events up to a year ahead. It takes everything from the start of the previous month to a year ahead, on Outlook and Google calendars alike, recurring series included. From then on, changes reach your other calendars within seconds.

OneCal's "What does OneCal sync?" page gives up to 1 year ahead for Google and iCloud calendars and up to 3 months ahead for Outlook calendars. It adds that the window moves forward over time, so events sync as they come within range, and that events beyond those ranges may not sync consistently.

How do OneCal and Calendox handle two Microsoft 365 tenants?

OneCal works per person, and Calendox Enterprise works per tenant. On OneCal, each person connects their own Microsoft account with delegated permissions and can sync calendars across organizations. Admins can set up members' calendars and syncs one member at a time through Admin Managed Accounts.

A Calendox Enterprise account connects whole organizations instead. An administrator of each Microsoft 365 organization approves Calendox once for everyone in it, so no employee connects an account or signs in. Calendox then pairs calendars across the tenants only when the part of the email address before the @ and the calendar name are the same on both sides, with case ignored. Any calendar without a confident match waits for you to pair it by hand or from a CSV file.

Calendars from the tenant you connect first, called the master tenant, come at no charge, and each calendar imported from another organization, called a secondary tenant, takes one seat. Enterprise covers the tenant sync alone, without a unified calendar or booking pages, and connects Microsoft 365 organizations only.

Which calendars can you connect to each?

On Calendox you can connect two providers: Google Calendar, with personal Gmail or Google Workspace accounts, and Microsoft Outlook, with Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live.com or Microsoft 365 work and school accounts. Apple iCloud and CalDAV calendars are not supported on Calendox. OneCal's home page lists Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple iCloud and CalDAV calendar servers such as Fastmail, Nextcloud or Zoho.

How do the trials compare?

Both last 14 days and need no credit card. On Personal and Business accounts the Calendox trial has Premium-level limits: 25 calendars and 25 syncs. On Enterprise, the trial allows up to 5 imported secondary-tenant calendars, counted across all secondary tenants. If the trial ends without a subscription, your syncs pause, and your connections and settings are kept until you subscribe. On a Business team, every member syncs on their own trial with no license until the team subscribes.

OneCal's plans and free trial page says that when its trial expires, syncs pause and the copies it created are removed, and that syncs resume once you buy a plan.

You can also buy Calendox through Microsoft Marketplace. Marketplace plans include a free trial run by Microsoft; its terms are shown at checkout.

What are the refund terms?

Calendox card subscriptions can be refunded, subject to review, if you cancel within 14 days of the first purchase and haven't used the service extensively. Marketplace purchases follow Microsoft's terms. OneCal's billing and charges page says that in most cases its subscriptions are non-refundable, and that residents of the EU or Turkey can get a refund if they cancel within 14 days of the initial purchase.
