Calendox vs Multical: Multi-Way Sync, Teams and Pricing

By CalendoxPublished Updated 11 min read

Two calendar windows side by side, a week view and an agenda view, joined by the rows this page compares, from calendars and sync directions to trial and price

Calendox publishes this page and is one of the two products compared. Multical details come from the public sources linked under Sources; we have not tested Multical hands-on. How we compare

In short

Calendox and Multical both sync Google and Microsoft calendars, with a unified calendar and booking pages. Multical charges one flat price per account with no calendar limit under fair use. Calendox keeps several calendars in step as one multi-way sync, adds team accounts on Business and syncs Microsoft 365 tenants on Enterprise. It suits people who want one sync for several calendars, and teams that buy together.

  • A Calendox multi-way sync keeps two or more calendars, each from a different connected account, in step as one sync. In Multical's app, a rule runs from one source calendar to one or more targets.
  • For 1 or 2 calendars, Calendox Basic matches Multical's monthly price and costs slightly less for a year. From 3 calendars, Multical's flat price per account is lower.
  • Calendox Business gives a team Admin and Member roles, per-seat billing and licenses. Multical sells individual accounts; a team or seat plan is not listed on its website.
  • Calendox Enterprise syncs calendars between Microsoft 365 tenants after one admin consent per tenant. Multical syncs one person's own calendars across organizations.
  • Calendox gives you 14 days with no credit card and a 14-day refund window on card subscriptions, on review. Multical offers a 7-day trial and says all sales are final.

Why Calendox

  • One sync for several calendars

A multi-way sync keeps two or more calendars, each from a different connected account, in step as one sync, with no separate rule for each source calendar.

  • Team accounts with admin roles

Business accounts give a team Admin and Member roles, per-seat billing and licenses that admins assign to members.

  • Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant sync

On Enterprise, an admin runs sync between Microsoft 365 tenants after each tenant's administrator consents once, so employees never sign in.

  • 14-day trial and a refund window

Personal and Business accounts get 14 days at Premium-level limits with no credit card, and card subscriptions can be refunded within 14 days of the first purchase, on review.

Choose Calendox if…

  • You want several Google and Microsoft calendars kept in step as one multi-way sync, rather than a rule for each source calendar.
  • You're buying for a team and want Admin and Member roles, per-seat licenses you can assign and one team bill.
  • You sync calendars between Microsoft 365 organizations and want one admin consent per tenant, with no employee sign-in.
  • You want 14 days to try it with no card, and a refund window on card subscriptions if you cancel within 14 days of the first purchase and haven't used the service extensively.
  • You want booking pages with daily and weekly caps, approvals that hold the requested slot, and private links with a use limit or expiry.
  • Your organization buys software through the Microsoft Marketplace.

How the plans line up

Both products price in US dollars, with tax added where required. Multical sells one plan per account, billed monthly or annually, with no calendar limit under a fair-use clause for individual use, plus a Lifetime plan paid once (Multical's terms). Calendox prices Personal plans per user and Business seats at the same price, and each tier sets how many calendars you connect and how many syncs you run: 2 on Basic, 5 on Standard and 25 on Premium (plans and billing). Calendox has no one-time plan.

Calendox Enterprise is a separate account type for syncing calendars between Microsoft 365 tenants. It's priced per imported secondary-tenant calendar rather than per user, while Multical prices per account, so the pricing table leaves it out.

Questions

Is Calendox cheaper than Multical?

For 1 or 2 calendars, Calendox Basic costs the same as Multical's Monthly plan each month and slightly less than its Annual plan for a year. From 3 calendars, Multical's flat price per account is lower: Calendox Standard covers up to 5 calendars and Premium up to 25, each at a higher price than Basic, while Multical's price doesn't change with the number of calendars (Multical's calendar syncing page). Current Calendox prices are on the pricing page.

Multical's terms say its unlimited syncing is intended for individual use and that sharing account credentials isn't allowed, so a team of five buys five accounts. A Calendox Business team buys five seats on one bill, at the same per-seat price as the matching Personal plan.

How does each product set up a sync?

A Calendox sync is either one-way, copying one source calendar into one or more targets, or multi-way, keeping two or more calendars in step as one sync. In a multi-way sync every calendar is both source and target: add, change or delete an event in any of them, and the change reaches the rest. Each calendar in a multi-way sync must come from a different connected account, and in a one-way sync the targets must sit on accounts other than the source's. A calendar can be in only one sync.

In Multical's app, a rule runs from one source calendar to one or more target calendars (Multical's web app code), and Multical says each rule can be one-way or two-way (calendar syncing). Keeping several calendars in step with each other takes one rule per source calendar.

Can you choose what synced copies show?

Yes, in both. In Calendox you tick the fields each sync copies: title, description, participants, location and meeting link. You can also stamp copies with a label, mark them private and create them without reminders (create your first sync). These settings are fixed when the sync is created. Calendox has no keyword, working-hours or weekday filters: a sync copies the source calendar's events from the start of the previous month to a year ahead, apart from Google's special entries such as birthdays and out-of-office (one-way sync).

Multical sets a visibility mode per rule, Busy Only, Title Only or Full Details, with location and video-link toggles that are off by default (Multical's permissions page). The same page says its Portfolio View removes the duplicate busy blocks that sync creates, so each meeting shows once. Its rules also filter which events sync: a keyword filter that skips or includes matching events (calendar syncing), work hours only, no weekends, and accepted-only or busy-only events (how to create a sync rule). Its rule editor can also limit a rule to specific days (web app code).

Which calendars can you connect?

On Calendox, three providers: Google Calendar, with personal Gmail or Google Workspace accounts; Microsoft Outlook, with Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live.com or Microsoft 365 work and school accounts; and on-premises Exchange Server 2016 or later, for the calendars in your own mailbox, which you connect with your mailbox address and Exchange password (Exchange Server). Apple iCloud, CalDAV and .ics feeds are not supported (what is Calendox?).

Multical connects Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook (personal and work or school accounts) and Apple iCloud (calendar syncing). Apple calendars connect read-write through CalDAV or read-only through an iCal URL, which can only be a source (permissions and data access).

How quickly do changes arrive?

Google and Microsoft notify Calendox as soon as an event changes, so those changes typically reach your other calendars within seconds (how Calendox sync works). Changes made on an Exchange Server reach Calendox within about 5 minutes. These are typical times, not guarantees.

Multical says Google and Outlook calendars sync near-instantly, usually within seconds, and that Apple iCloud is polled instead, within 15 minutes on its calendar syncing page and every 15 to 30 minutes on its permissions page. Both products' figures are their own claims. No side-by-side test was run.

What do the booking pages include?

Calendox booking pages come on every Personal and Business plan: 2 on Basic, unlimited on Standard and Premium, with fair-use limits, and Premium removes Calendox branding (what is Bookings?). A page checks every connected calendar for conflicts by default, so bookers see only open slots. You can cap bookings per day and per week (availability and scheduling), require approval while the requested slot is held for you to decide, and share private links with a use limit or an expiry, a QR code or an embed. A booking can get a Google Meet link on a Google destination calendar, a Microsoft Teams link on a work or school Microsoft calendar, or a Zoom link on any destination, Exchange Server included (meeting links and location). Calendox takes no payments, has no team pages and uses non-guessable links rather than custom URLs.

Multical includes unlimited scheduling links on every plan, each with a custom slug (scheduling links). Links can require your confirmation before a booking is final, take Stripe payments, prepaid packages and coupons, and run workflows that send an email or call a webhook when a meeting is booked, before and after it, or when it's cancelled, rescheduled or marked a no-show. They add Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or your own link. Daily and weekly booking caps are not listed on Multical's website.

Can a team share a Calendox subscription?

Yes. A Business account puts the whole team on one bill: an admin invites members, buys seats on whichever plans the team needs and hands each member a license. Every admin has the same rights, and the subscription belongs to the team, not to the admin who bought it. A licensed member then connects their own calendars and runs their own syncs within that plan's limits. Before the team subscribes, nobody needs a license, because each member is on their own 14-day trial.

Multical sells individual accounts; a team or seat plan is not listed on its website. An organization admin can pre-approve the app, for Microsoft 365 through its Microsoft admin portal or for Google Workspace through an admin install from the Google Workspace Marketplace, and each person then connects their own calendars.

How does Calendox sync calendars between Microsoft 365 tenants?

On an Enterprise account, where one IT admin acts for the whole organization. The administrator of each Microsoft 365 tenant grants consent once, and no employee signs in to Calendox at all. From a tenant dashboard the admin imports the calendars and pairs them, by hand or by CSV import; Calendox pairs a calendar automatically only when its email username and its calendar name match in both tenants. A seat is used for each secondary-tenant calendar the admin imports, calendars from the master tenant (the first tenant connected) are free, and a sync needs at least two connected tenants. Enterprise is sync-only: it connects Microsoft 365 organizations alone, with no unified calendar or booking pages.

Multical's home page describes one person syncing their own calendars across several organizations. An admin-run, organization-wide sync between tenants is not listed on Multical's website. For the sharing Microsoft 365 offers between tenants without a sync tool, see our guide to tenant-to-tenant calendar sharing and sync.

How do the trials and refunds compare?

Calendox gives you 14 days with no credit card. On Personal and Business accounts the trial runs at Premium-level limits: 25 calendars, 25 syncs and unlimited booking pages, with fair-use limits. If it ends without a subscription, your syncs pause, and your connections and settings are kept until you subscribe (plans and billing). On a Business team, every member uses their own trial.

Card subscriptions can be refunded, subject to review, if you cancel within 14 days of the first purchase and haven't used the service extensively. You can also buy Calendox through the Microsoft Marketplace; those purchases follow Microsoft's terms, and Marketplace plans include a free trial run by Microsoft, with its terms shown at checkout.

Multical's terms give a 7-day free trial with no credit card on its Monthly and Annual plans. The same terms say all sales are final and non-refundable, with exceptions only at Multical's discretion for technical issues.
